A Roaring Welcome to Our New Company Pet!

As you may know, we’ve been making some major changes over here at Yellow Bungalow. We recently hinted that wild things were happening, and now we’re happy to announce that we “adopted” a company pet, Fiona the leopard. Something was missing from our team, so we decided, in Yellow Bungalow fashion, to go big! Fiona was hired on October 15, 2019 as our much needed Animal Print Consultant, and we couldn’t be more excited for her to join the team (working from her home in South Africa, of course).

While trying to decide on the perfect pet, we sorted through the potential. Why play it safe with a dog or a cat when we could go bold? Monkeys, hippos, polar bears, and turtles (Guy's idea "because he has a home on his back"), were all considered as options, but we all fell in love with the idea of a leopard.

Did you know that leopards are currently listed as vulnerable on the IUCN's Red List due to hunting and habitat loss. When we learned this, we came across a non-profit organization called Cheetah Experience in Bloemfontein, South Africa, which provides care for and educates on conservation efforts of various endangered species such as cheetahs and leopards.

Fiona is the 'purfect' addition to our team!

At Cheetah Experience, animals engage in a number of enrichment activities and are cared for by volunteers in the area. Their mission is “to raise awareness of  the vulnerability of South African species and other endangered species through educational experiences, as well as ethically breeding cheetahs in captivity.” We love what they stand for, and we wanted to support a cause that was special to us.

Fiona’s cheeky, playful nature captured our hearts, and we think she's the 'purfect' addition to our team. Over the course of the next year (and hopefully longer) we will be donating to provide for her care and enrichment, as well as to the conservation efforts of the organization. We encourage you to check out @cheetah_experience for yourself to learn more about Fiona and to say hi to all of her friends over at the center (especially her bestie Shrek).
